Thunder coach Shane Bond welcomed the final draw for BBL-10 which offers their passionate army of fans four opportunities to cheer their team on at the Showground during the run into the finals, starting with a blockbuster Sydney derby on January 13.
“Sydney Thunder is always a tough team to beat on our home ground, so to start off in Canberra and to then have four games at Sydney Showground Stadium at the back end of the competition – and it could be the crunch time – is tremendous,” he said.
Also excited about playing what could be crucial matches in front of a “sea of green”, Sydney Thunder captain Callum Ferguson says their team gets a “real buzz” from playing at the Showground.
“During my time at the club, it’s always been a huge lift for the players; it’s the passion our members and fans show at home ground matches which gives the team an extra three or four percent on the night,” Ferguson. said
“It’s a huge advantage and hopefully it will give us momentum into the finals if we’re playing good cricket in the lead-up to that.”
The Thunder’s other games at the Showground will be against the Hobart Hurricanes on January 18 and the Adelaide Strikers on both January 24 and 25.
