This a fact that Settlement Services International (SSI) in Bankstown is working hard to change and are welcoming a government funding grant of $242,755 which will allow them to support more CALD women who are seeking employment in their Women with Purpose program.
Working in partnership with the Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce, SSI will also use the funds to launch a campaign targeting employers and outlining the benefits of employing women from a CALD background.
Head of Employment Services, SSI Group, Joudy Lazkany, says the funding will be used specifically to empower women in Bankstown.
“We are very happy to receive this funding here because this is where it is needed most,” she said.
“It is not just about helping women overcome complex barriers and getting them work-ready but after they find a job, we need to continue the mentorship and support for them so they can be retained in the workforce.
“This grant will also allow us to include evidence-based reporting to show the impact of the funding.”
Joudy said they were presently recruiting CALD women to take part in the program but they needed potential participants to get in contact by Monday, August 21.
