The U13s, U15s and All Age Men’s teams are planning on a huge celebration – win or lose – after this weekend’s matches, according to All Age Men’s player Jurgen Steiner who also coaches the U13s with fellow player John Sitchon.
Another All Age Men’s Player and club president, Lee Rennie, coaches the U15s team.
Jurgen and John have been coaching the U13s since they were the U6s as both players have boys in the side.
Jugen said that last year was the first season the boys could play competitively, then being U12s, and they were leading the competition until Covid struck.
“They’ve done so well and all the boys get along famously, they are either friends or relatives and at least half of them have been playing together since they were five-years-old,” he said.
“They are so excited to see how far they can go in their first year of competition and we are sure they will do well.”
Apart from the experience of playing together for a long time, another trick helping to catapult them to success is that even when the season ends, the team continues to meet up once a week for light training and games.
“That definitely helps them to keep their eye in and their pace strong,” Jurgen said.
“We’re all looking forward to putting our skills to the test this weekend.”
