The centre will use the funding for a new kitchen while other recipients included Auburn Presbyterian Church (furnishing church hall), St Johns Ambulance Auburn (new vehicle purchase and fit out with medical equipment), Gracepoint Presbyterian Church Lidcombe (new carpet, renovate toilets), Australian Alevi Cultural Centre (refurbishment to kitchen and toilets, painting of interior), and Greater Cumberland Chamber of Commerce (new community kitchen).
The grants program aims to create more vibrant and inclusive communities by supporting community infrastructure projects that encourage community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
State MP for Auburn, Lynda Voltz, welcomed the funds which would “deliver much-needed improvements to local facilities” including the new community kitchen at the Western Sydney Community Centre in Auburn.
“This grassroots funding will allow our local groups to revitalise their facilities and continue their vital work across the community,” she said.
“I congratulate all the organisations that were successful in their applications and look forward to seeing how these projects make a real difference for community groups in the area.”
The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 19,700 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
