Youth coordinator at the Australian Afghan Hassanian Youth Association (AAHYA), the 16-year-old coordinates activities supporting newly arrived migrants.
She has supported projects for hundreds of youth including swimming programs, camps, martial arts lessons, homework help and tutoring at Dari language school. “When my name was called out, I was so shocked I couldn’t speak,” she said.
“There were just so many deserving finalists.”
Nargis also won the Youth Humanitarian Award in 2022.
