Tasty theatre bites back for festival

BASED on a true story, a couple are celebrating their anniversary at an upmarket restaurant but frustratingly cannot gain the waiter’s attention for the desserts menu.

Starring Lidcombe actor Steve Lu, ‘Desserted’ is part of the Short+Sweet Sydney Festival showcase with scores of short, sharp, tasty, new 10-minute bites of funny, thrilling drama over the next eight weeks at Turner Hall, Ultimo.
Steve said the quirky plot included opportunities for the actors to improvise, with hilarious results.
“It’s basically a miscommunication over dessert and it’s very entertaining,” he said.
“The audience is sure to have a good laugh; theatre lovers should definitely make the effort to get along to the show for a fun night out and support the festival.”
From March 7-10, the festival lineup also includes ‘Hers’ (Julie and Jack are a young couple struggling to sustain their 10-year marriage; on his birthday Jack comes up with a drastic plan to finally resolve this problem); ‘Love & Knots’ (In the wake of a father’s suicide, a mother and daughter try and navigate the love that binds them together through grief and addiction, with the support of a nosey neighbour); and ‘Working’ (A father and daughter discover that, with a little help from their friends, they are not so different after all).
