TAP student to dazzle in ‘The Voice’

MANY might be familiar with powerhouse songstress and Revesby resident Theoni Marks after her years of performing with Bankstown’s Talent Advancement Project (TAP).

Her talents will be on show again next week, from May 2, after learning she has made it through to the Blind Auditions of Channel 7’s ‘The Voice’.
The former Picnic Point High School student, 19, has been writing music since she was a child but credits TAP with making her who she is today as a performer.
“I was with TAP for five years from Year 7 and only stopped in Year 12 because of Covid,” she said.
“My experience with TAP was almost magical as I grew up an only child and meeting all the wonderful kids and people through the project was amazing.
“I’ve made friends for life and the experience has certainly given me the confidence to take on anything.”
Keen to represent plus-sized women in Australia, Theoni believes that you shouldn’t change your appearance or be a certain weight or look to fit the mould of what a record label would sign.
“My talents should be the reason if I become a recording artist,” she said.
“That’s why a show like The Voice is perfect for me; I’m aiming to break the mould and this is my best shot.
“I’m singing the biggest song of the year and feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for this, I’m very excited and can’t wait to share the universal language that is music with the audience and all The Voice fans at home.”
