Talented young athletes on track to make mark at championships

BANKSTOWN Sports Athletics Club (BSAC) star Filtomas Finekifolau is officially in the top 10 in Australia in the Under 13 boys age group after coming sixth in the hammer throw and eighth in shot-put at the Australian Athletics Championships over the weekend.

He will next join club mate Elysee Diep and Canterbury Little Athletics Centre’s (CLAC) Tallara Joseph-Riogi, both in Under 13 girls, at the 2022 Australian Little Athletics Championships in Melbourne in April.
“The BSAC family is incredibly proud of these two talented athletes and their achievements,” a spokesperson said.
“It is amazing and encouraging to see that hard work does pay off.
“Fil and Elysse can both attest that when you put the effort in, then results will follow.”
Elysse’s Dad David Diep says the family is extremely proud of her efforts.
“She always gives everything a go, she’s got a great spirit about her and just keeps on excelling,” he said.
“BSAC has been wonderful for her too, just providing so much support and guidance for her.”
A CLAC spokesperson said they were also thrilled for Tallara: “We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and know she will go far.”
