Talented bands to hit live music beat

AMPING up the live music scene in NSW, Great Southern Nights returns from March 18 to April 10, with plenty on offer to thrill music fans looking to get out and about and support their favourite artists.

Kicking off the festival, Ribs and Rumps, Sydney Olympic Park, will host The Roslyns and The Ashton Martinis on March 18 and The Western Distributors and The Sweet Jelly Rolls on April 1.
The Brewery & Kitchen at Novotel Ibis, Sydney Olympic feature, will feature Emily Wurramara on March 18 and Jessica Jade on March 25.
The fun gets underway at Lidcombe Bowling Club on March 26 with the Big Merino, Terry Lockley and the Locals and Parkhouse on March 26 and Noon Shift, Max Donnellan and Lythia on April 9.
Granville Town Hall will also be rocking out on April 9 with MC Trey, Anisha Krishnasamy, David Miller, Jessica Jade and No Intent.
Lidcombe Bowling Club promoter Greg Reeves said they were very excited to be a part of Great Southern Nights after introducing Lidstock and Sunday Sessions at the club in 2015.
“This is a great opportunity for us to bring in some inspiring fresh musical talent to invigorate the local bands and build an expanded audience for local live music,” he said.
“We are thrilled to have Noon Shift on board, they are an exciting young Western Suburbs band making waves with a couple of indie record releases.
“The talented Max Donnellan will be there too and in line with our philosophy of supporting new young bands, Lythia will be playing their first pro gig after winning our young bands competition in 2019.”
For those of us who grew up in the early days of live music at the local pub, Big Merino will be playing some of their originals as well as some classics from the Stones and Beatles.
“Everybody tells me they are hungry for live music so you are in for a massive treat, with a big crowd also expected to support local legend Russell Parkhouse as well as Terry Lockley and the Locals,” Greeves said.
