Take trip with author to future world

REVESBY mum of three, Emma Clarke, 33, always knew there was a gripping, young adult fantasy book inside of her waiting to break free and has finally put pen to paper in her debut novel, ‘Verntropa: The Balance’, the first in a trilogy with the second due out next year.

The central character, Olivia, has only ever known Earth after the shift; for 15 years there has been no sunshine or rain and little resources.
In her dreams she visits a vividly coloured landscape populated by four distinctive societies and must find a way back to ‘Verntropa’ to save the planet and fulfil her destiny.
Managing a photography business and also an avid musician, songwriter and poet, Emma says all the inspiration for her books comes purely from her imagination: “I look back on my manuscripts and wonder ‘wow, where did that come from’?
“The book is based on strong characters and a compelling storyline, something that is relatable enough to keep the reader interested but unique enough to allow the reader to escape.
“I hope that my stories provide young readers with a world to get temporarily lost in, to understand universal friendship, and to know there could be so much more on earth than what is presented to us day to day.”
