Take journey to Moon Fest

TAKE a trip to the moon this September as Cumberland Council’s popular Moon Festival makes its way to Lidcombe on Saturday, September 30.

Get ready for a jam-packed event with a mix of both traditional and contemporary live entertainment, fusion-food and free activities for the whole family to enjoy at Wyatt Park, 1-6pm.
Festival-goers will also be treated to a screening of two outdoor movies, Over the Moon and Kung Fu Panda, and will have the opportunity to meet and greet the fun-loving Kung Fu Panda Po himself.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said the park would be buzzing with plenty of fun activities for everyone.
“I’m looking forward to this next exciting event at Wyatt Park in Lidcombe, which will have something for everyone in the family to enjoy,” she said.
“Our wonderful diverse community is a never-ending source of inspiration for creative arts, dynamic entertainment, delicious food and fun activities. We love hosting local events that offer new experiences through the sharing of culture.”
The Moon Festival will kick off at 1pm with DJ Steve Zappa bringing the fusion tunes, followed by lion dancing and the Sydney Chinese Dance Group showcasing the traditional artistry of Chinese dance. The GWS Giants will also be in attendance, giving the community a chance to win some awesome prizes through their target challenge.
Also known as the Moon Cake Festival and traditionally as the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Moon Festival is a harvest celebration that takes place on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Lunar Calendar.
