Tackle dumping at end of lease

CANTERBURY Bankstown Council will write to the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) and Department of Fair Trading requesting advice as to what information is provided to buyers and renters in regards to their legal obligations around disposal of household items at the end of their lease.

Cr Clare Raffan said she was concerned with the mess many left behind, which then attracts other people who add their rubbish to the pile.
The council will also work with REIA to raise awareness among real estate agents, tenants and landlords of the obligations and penalties associated with illegal dumping at the end of lease.
