Swifts get another break despite loss

A 10 GOAL loss to the Sunshine Coast Lightning on Saturday, has left the NSW Swifts with one last chance to make the grand final.

Both teams came out strongly from the opening whistle, with the Swifts managing to lead by a single goal at the first break.
Unfortunately for Swifts fans that was the last time they hit the front, with the Lightning dominating from early in the second quarter and leaving the visitors unable to muscle their way back into the game from there.
Cutting down the home side’s lead to just two goals at halftime, the Swifts were left trailing by 10 goals at the start of the final quarter, and that’s where the gap stayed with the final scoreline reading Lightning 58-Swifts 48.
While the Swifts will now battle the Melbourne Vixens at home at the Quaycentre at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, September 8, the Sunshine Coast get a week off to recover before hosting the grand final on Sunday, September 15.
