On from the opening whistle, the Swifts outscored the Vixens five goals to one in the early stages of the game.
However the Vixens fought back to cut the Swifts’ eight goal lead at three-quarter time, to six at the midway point of the final term, but just couldn’t overcome a clinical Swifts side.
Defeating the Giants Netball side 60-56 in a hard fought match earlier in the day, the Sunshine Coast Lightning’s own stay on top of the ladder was short-lived.
While the Giants fought boldly to claim the final quarter 14 goals to 13, it wasn’t enough to get the lead back from the Lightning.
Swift reclaim of top spot after victory
RECLAIMING their top spot on the ladder, the NSW Swifts won against the Melbourne Vixens 57 to 51 at Sydney Olympic Park’s Quaycentre on Saturday night.
