Swift, gutsy win against WA rival

THE NSW Swifts and Giants Netball both scored wins away from home after the Suncorp Super Netball competition rebooted following a month-long break for the Netball World Cup.

Following a gutsy four-point win over West Coast Fever at RAC Arena on Saturday, the Swifts remain on top of the ladder for another week, seven points clear of second place.
The visitors didn’t get off to a good start and were three points down at the end of the first quarter but fought back to be two points up by half time.
Showing much better consistency in the final term, they stretched their lead out to four with seven minutes to go, and while the Fever tried hard to close the gap, the Swifts held on to win 49-53.
While both teams had three players in Liverpool for the World Cup, the Giants returned to the top four, and proved to be in ruthless form, downing the Magpies 63-56 at Melbourne Arena on Sunday.
While the Magpies managed a late surge to win the final quarter, it wasn’t enough for them to peg the Giants back and win the game.
