ATTENDING support programs at Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre (KCAC) for the past four years, Peter says participating has boosted his confidence, improved his social skills and made him feel less isolated.
Two standout positive experiences for him have been World Mental Health Day, with Milo the Therapy dog coming along to the centre to visit the participants, and a group outing to the Grounds of Alexandria during the Disney display.
He now feels more able to chat and connect with a range of different people. Peter particularly enjoys arts and crafts activities and feels very supported and included by the staff at KCAC, who check in on participants regularly.
The group aligns with his goal of establishing meaningful relationships and feeling at ease in the community.
He encourages others to join similar groups for the support and growth they offer. Peter says that KCAC have always met his needs and preferences effectively.
“I love everything about the program at Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre. The staff are so friendly and welcoming here and I have made many friends too,” he said.
