Support on offer to host your own fundraiser to join fight to stop killer

RAISING funds for the Daffodil Day Appeal is easy – you can do it at home, at your workplace or out in your community.

The best part is you’ll be contributing towards live-saving cancer research.
Thanks to investment in research, amazing advancements have been made in cancer prevention, screening and treatment – helping to increase survival rates from 49 per cent in the 1980s to 69 per cent today.
But there’s still a long way to go.
With an estimated 145,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed in Australia this year – and that number set to increase to 150,000 by 2020 – the Cancer Council needs your help this Daffodil Day to ensure cancer research can continue and help save more lives.
How you can save lives this Daffodil Day:
• Sell daffodils – Contact your local Cancer Council office to order your fresh flowers, they’ll deliver them to your door free of charge and you can sell them at $10 a bunch to raise funds. A big bonus is that every bunch you sell is tax deductible.
• Host a yellow dress day – Encourage your guests or colleagues to wear yellow and make a donation at your next get-together. Hold a best-dressed competition or make a rule that anyone who doesn’t wear yellow has to donate extra.
• Hold a yellow morning or afternoon tea – make some yellow goodies, put on some tea, and charge an entry fee.
• Run a yellow themed raffle – Ask local businesses to donate some items and use them as a raffle prize. You’ll be surprised how quickly your tickets will sell.
• DIY – Got another yellow idea? Go for it.
If you’d like to get involved, visit to register your fundraiser. Once you do, they will send you some goodies to make the day even more successful. For more info, contact your local Cancer Council office on 1300 65 65 85.
