The opening was attended by many, including Olive who shared a personal story about the challenges of living with dementia as a carer to husband Len.
Olive touched everyone with her experiences and painted a picture of the support and care provided by 3Bridges Community through their Seniors Social Support Groups.
3Bridges Youth Advisory Committee, made up of young people aged between 12 -18 years provide a voice for all young people who access 3Bridges youth services. They spoke about their individual journeys with a common theme of increased confidence and opportunities.
The Hon. Mark Coure MP, Minister for Seniors, Minister for Multiculturalism and Member for Oatley, Ms Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill, Shadow Minister for Transport and Deputy Mayor Jessica D’Arienzo, all spoke about the tremendous impact 3Bridges makes in walking alongside and supporting the community.
Raj Nair, 3Bridges CEO said he was honoured and appreciative he and the 3Bridges team are to the Inner West Council for entrusting 3Bridges to manage the community centre.
“Having provided supports in the Inner West Local Government Area for more than six years, including Disability Support, Allied Health including Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy and now nursing, Before and After School Care including Vacation Care at Summer Hill Public School, Home Modification and Maintenance and Aged Care support through Home Care packages and Commonwealth Home Support packages, it is wonderful to now have a home base in the Inner West,” he said.
The 3Bridges Summer Hill Community Centre is located at 131 Smith Street, Summer Hill.
