Volunteers congregated at Club Rivers during the school holidays to pack an additional 500 Supertee Marvel Editions for delivery to hospitals, including Bankstown Lidcombe.
Jason came up with the Supertee idea after feeling helpless when his own daughter, Angela, 9, was diagnosed with a rare cancer and given a 20 percent chance of survival – thankfully she won that fight.
He has since started the Fair Fight Foundation with the aim to give Supertees to all children in hospital at no cost to families.
Marvel stars Chris Hemsworth and Brie Larson have given messages of support on video accessed by a QR code in each Supertee pack which includes the top, stickers, an activity book and an official ‘hero’ status card.
Apart from the colourful costume, the Supertee comes with an array of press studs which can be opened to fit through tubes and take temperatures.
Also the father of Teo, 7, and Tahlia, 3, Jason said he got the idea from Teo who appeared dressed in a superhero outfit one day, saying he was off to save his sister.
“I’m very grateful to Club Rivers for organising the ClubsNSW grant for us recently but am hoping to partner with local businesses to cover the cost of more Supertees and help more kids harness the power of imagination to get better.”
If you can assist, email Jason at supertee.org.au.
‘Supertees’ giving sick children special powers to defeat disease
GIVING seriously ill children a psychological edge in hospital, Supertee Marvel Editions – a practical medical garment replacing the traditional hospital gown – are making a big difference to sick kids, thanks to the efforts of former tradie and Chester Hill resident Jason Sotiris.
