Super Bowl debut thrill

MORE than 300 gathered to cheer him on at his former Bankstown Bulls grounds at Ruse Oval on Monday while Condell Park High students and staff got decked out in midnight green, silver and white as former student Jordan Mailata prepared for the biggest game of his life.

Jordan and his Philadelphia Eagles teammates took on and narrowly lost by three in the last eight seconds of the game to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, with the 25-year-old becoming just the third Australian to take part in its history.
Bulls Club Secretary Sam Masri said they had a sausage sizzle underway from 6am in the lead up to the game, with everyone barracking madly for Jordan as play got underway about 10.30am.
Former teammate in the U18s side, Daniel Hadchiti is now coach of the U18s and said playing in the Super Bowl was a credit to Jordan and his hard work.
“We were all so excited and have been backing him all the way,” he said.
Other former teammates, Paul, Jayden and John said they always saw huge future success coming for Jordan.
“For someone having to learn a whole new sport, since the sports are as different as night from day, he was the best man for the job,” Paul said.
Jayden said: “He is a really nice guy, a humble gentleman.”
John said: “He has such great athletic ability; it’s like he’s got three legs on the field.”
