Stylist student heads to USA Fashion Week

AUSTRALIAN Idol stylist and Guildford resident Christiana Al-Ekhtiyar has had an exciting first year as a National Fashion College student, culminating in attending her first New York Fashion Week (NYFW) in September.

Dipping her toe into Australian Fashion Week in May, she’s looking forward to taking the next big step saying it’s a dream come true to be part of such a globally recognised event that sets the tone for fashion trends worldwide.
“I’m eager to see first hand the latest collections from top designers and to draw inspiration from their creativity,” Christiana said.
“I’m also thrilled about networking opportunities that National Fashion College Director Bryce Alexander McIntosh has created at NYFW.
“The chance to be in the same space as some of the biggest names in fashion is truly inspiring and I can’t wait to bring back new insights and knowledge to apply in my future work.”
Christiana said her advice to others aspiring to work in the fashion industry, was to embrace every opportunity no matter the size.
“Gaining as much hands-on experience as possible is crucial,” she said.
“Internships, volunteering at events and even small styling projects can all contribute to building your skills and network; the industry is always evolving so keep up with all the new trends and techniques.”
