Principal Raquel Charet said that while it was a solemn occasion, it was wonderful to again gather as a whole school.
“Our new Head of Social Sciences, Cameron Paff, organised the event and it was by all accounts, outstanding and moving,” she said.
Vietnam war veteran Garry Williams, representing Bass Hill RSL, spoke to the children about the daily reality for soldiers at war, followed by the school’s music students performing The Last Post and The Rouse.
Dignitaries attended included GRGS Directors Chairman David McGregor and Vern Falconer, State MP for East Hills, Wendy Lindsay; Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship and Labor Candidate for Fowler, Kristina Keneally and State MP for Bankstown, Tania Mihailuk.
