The College had been thoroughly cleaned and many other works had taken place including the introduction of solar panels, new lockers, new furniture in the Year 12 study and new stationery and equipment thanks to an Officeworks Lewisham donation – all for the purpose of ensuring that the students have the best resources and environment possible.
A Year 7-12 Co-educational College, Casimir was established in 1983 from the amalgamation of De La Salle College and St Brigid’s College, both of which had been landmark schools in the Marrickville area dating back to the 1930s.
It has a rich tradition, steeped in the values and customs of three religious orders: the Good Samaritan Sisters, the De La Salle Brothers and the Passionist Fathers.
“With this as our foundation, we collaboratively work hard to ensure that we develop a professional learning environment and pastoral care structure,” Principal Carmelina Eussen said.
“We seek to offer our students consistency, responsibility and the opportunity to challenge them to reach their potential.
“This is underpinned by our belief that collaborative, critical thinking, innovation and creativity are at the heart of our College.”
Multicultural, Casimir educators recognise that all students have individual learning needs and actively explore opportunities to nurture these through enriching the classroom experience with a wide variety of extracurricular activities and programs.
“Staff at Casimir strongly believe that our students should be supported as well as challenged and failure to do so, may inhibit a student in developing his or her full potential. We are committed to educating our students to take their place in a global environment,” Ms Eussen said.
Strength built on rich tradition
WITH new windows, doors, classrooms and technology also on the way soon, Casimir Catholic College students were greeted by a leafier playground with upgraded seating when they walked through the new front gate on the first day of the new school year in 2021.
