Centred on a modern family, the play is about generations living together – two older women with no partner in their lives due to divorce and loss and raising a young man.
With his impending adulthood, both women decide to take the plunge with online dating although the middle generation mother takes some convincing.
“The scenes depicted in the play would not have been a typical family evening 30 years ago,” Elizabeth said.
“The teenage boy provides tech support to his grandmother’s foray into the dating world following the death of her husband several years ago.
“His mother holds down a full-time job and has been busy raising her son since her divorce.
“With grandma’s new found dating hobby, both the teenager and the grandmother conspire to persuade her to give it a try as well.”
Elizabeth says the audience will love the funny, heartwarming tale.
“It’s ultimately about gaining back your mojo and learning to enjoy life again,” she said.
You can see ‘Salsa Dancing’ and seven other short plays at Tom Mann Theatre in Surry Hills on June 11, 12 and 13.
