‘Stars’ dance way to help fight a killer

ALMOST $150,000 was raised for the Cancer Council after nine local celebrities and community leaders took on the challenge to learn a dance routine for the third annual Stars of Sydney South West event at Revesby Workers’ Club.
Not only did the ‘Stars’ commit to learning some new dance moves, they also committed to raising $5,000 each for Cancer Council’s vital cancer research, prevention, advocacy and local support programs, including the Enrich program at Liverpool Hospital.
Taking to the stage in front of an audience of over 300, the ‘Stars’ highest fundraiser was Coco Shi, representing Sapphire International Marketing, who raised an amazing $24,494. The judge’s choice award was presented to Grace Gullo, representing Ladies Like To Lunch Fundraising with dance partner Sarah Vella, from Nadia’s Performance Studio, and the audience favourite was awarded to Andy Chu from RAMS Home Loans with dance partner Taylah Katavich, also from Nadia’s Performance Studio.
Cancer Council NSW’s Community Relations Coordinator Edyta Banasiak said the event included a painting in the live auction going for $5,000.

“The event would not have been made possible without the involvement of all the wonderful Stars, dance partners and their schools, sponsors and supporters. We can’t thank them enough,” she said.
