Saying pre-season training has been really enjoyable, he joked it was definitely a step up from a tough, last year.
“There’s a lot of new players on board with a lot of energy and they each bring their unique personalities and something a little different,” he said.
With a real winning mentality, new players like Brent Naden and Josh Addo-Carr are making their mark, along with Matt Dufty, Braidon Burns and Paul Alamoti who like to win everything, according to Jackson.
“Matt Burton is another great bloke with a level head on his shoulders and very calm which shows in his footy.
“Only two years in and he wins a premiership, he’s got a lot of experience from that and he’s certainly an impressive young bloke.”
Jackson said he was looking forward to playing in front of fans again.
“It’s been really hard as we’ve got the best, the most passionate fans in the competition so not having had that interaction has been tough,” he said.
“We still feel their support but want to get in front of the fans again and enjoy some wins together.”
Coach Trent Barrett said he had put a lot of the focus on defence during training.
“We’ve also brought in attacking players and are tidying up a few things,” he said.
“We’ve still got work to do but I’m looking forward to this weekend and fans can expect the team to have a really good crack … our kicking game should really improve.
“You can definitely look forward to seeing a team that competes really hard and that’s all I’m after.”
Arthur Laundy, Director and owner of Laundy Hotels, the Bulldogs major sponsor, says things are looking very promising and it should be a far better season than last year.
“We have a very happy, talented, vibrant team and are supported by an equally happy and loyal crowd/fanbase,” he said.
“Gus (Phil) Gould and Trent Barrett are very excited and impressed with the direction that the club is headed for in 2022, and if they are happy, I am happy!”
The Bulldogs take on the Cowboys at Queensland Country Bank Stadium this Sunday, March 13, from 6.15pm.
