St Peter Chanel students join thousands in ‘School of Rock’

THIRTY four students from St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School Regents Park, were among almost 4,000 performers from 150 Sydney Catholic school in last week’s School of Rock showcase.

Practising all year and performing in the choir ensemble, the students developed skills and confidence and had a wonderful time performing in the joyous celebration of the arts at the Qudos Bank Arena last Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Based on the hit movie ‘School of Rock’ by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the story follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.
There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.
Organising teachers Ibrahim Matar and Alana Blazevic said it would be an experience they would never forget.
“We all felt such great pride, considering our group comprised a few students who had never done anything like this before,” Ms Blazevic said.
“It was fantastic for our students and a very happy time for members of our school and greater Catholic community.”
