St John volunteer heroes awarded over efforts

GRANVILLE’S Bryan Kempton (pictured above) was awarded The Order of St John in recognition of going above and beyond to devote his time, effort and expertise into helping others.

He was among 46 volunteers, including Homebush’s Lawrence Lukash (pictured right), who were presented with the award by NSW Governor Margaret Beazley at the St John Ambulance NSW Investiture Ceremony at Government House last month.
Mr Kempton began with St John in 1991 and was instrumental in developing home isolation packs to support the NSW Health response to the 2009 Influenza pandemic. Often supporting volunteers in the field by delivering consumable supplies and equipment out of office hours, his knowledge and expertise has raised the profile of St John.
Mr Lukash joined in 1996 and is now a Divisional Sergeant, making new members feel welcome and takes an active role in mentoring them. He is an outstanding ambassador in the community and provides valuable support.
Sarah Lance, CEO of St John Ambulance NSW, says that volunteers are an essential part of the organisation and help make communities a better place for all.
“We are proud to honour and recognise these volunteers who have made significant contributions to their communities through their dedication to St John NSW,” she said.
