St Charbel’s College celebrates Oz Tag, volleyball team success

A SENIOR boys Oz Tag and senior girls volleyball teams (pictured) from St Charbel’s College Punchbowl, were celebrating last week after making the grand finals in their respective sports.

Enjoying an undefeated season in 2023, the boys were successful in their semi-final and grand final games which were played the same day, with the grand final seeing an 11-4 win over St Vincents.
St Charbels Sports Co-ordinator and PDHPE teacher Robert Nakhla said the boys played with great team work, compassion and displayed sportsmanship during each game.
“A special shoutout to Jonathan Zoghaib and Christian Chiha for their outstanding performance week in, week out,” he said.
This followed the Year 12 Senior Girls showcasing remarkable resilience and skill, culminating in a memorable run to the volleyball grand final.
“Throughout the season, each player contributed significantly to the team’s success, reflecting not just their athletic prowess but also their positive attitudes and unwavering motivation,” Mr Nakhla said.
“The girls were extremely unlucky, going down 2-1 sets with the 3rd set ending 7-5 to the opposition as time had run out.
“The grand final, although ending with a narrow two-point deficit, stands as a testament to the girls’ dedication and enjoyment of the game, regardless of the outcome.”
