‘Sports Dad of the Year’ nominations now open

IS your Dad or someone you know a great example of a sporting father on or off the field?
Now you can recognise a sports dad in your community for the chance to be crowned the Philips Community Sports Dad of the Year just in time for Father’s Day.
Whether it’s a dad that coaches a junior team, helps the local sports club with funding or support, or plays competitive sport on the weekend, now is the chance to highlight a father who’s an inspiration in your community.
The Community Sports Dad of the Year will win a $5,000 Rebel Sports voucher to donate to his sporting club for new gear or sporting equipment.

Those who nominate the successful dad will also have the chance to win a Philips Prestige Shaver 9000, the ultimate in men’s shaving (valued at over $649).
A previous winner was Lidcombe’s Bill Soliola, who is related to Sia Soliola, a Canberra Raiders player.
He’s the father of eight kids aged four to 17 (with twins on the way) and is presently home-schooling his brood plus supporting their school as Lidcombe Public’s P&C President and is the Under 8s coach of the Berala Bears.
Bill said: “What motivates me are all the families. Volunteering to me is about giving and not expecting anything back. Making life easier for others and putting smiles on children’s faces.”
To get involved, simply go to sportsdads.com.au/community and explain in 100 words or less why you think your chosen sports dad should be crowned the Community Sports Dad of the Year.
Nominations will be accepted up until midnight on Sunday, August 22, and the winner will be announced before Father’s Day on Sunday, September 5.
