Splash out on safety by enrolling in swim lesson

IT’S time to dig out your bathers, togs and swimmers from the bottom drawer.

Summer is likely to be both hotter and wetter than average but residents can find some respite at Cumberland Council’s swim centres at Granville, Guildford, Merrylands and Lidcombe, with recreational swimming and general entry now in place.
Bookings are not required, however when the maximum number of swimmers is reached in accordance with each pool’s Covid-19 safety plan, people will either need to wait for others to leave or come back at another time.
Mayor Steve Christou says the council wants to support residents and “help them live active and healthy lives”.
“With lap swimming and Aqua fitness programs restarting with squads, adult, women only and parents and babies classes, there are programs for the whole family to take advantage of,” he said.
“Entry is free for seniors and concession card holders on Tuesdays for eligible residents living within our local government area.”
Cr Christou has also asked the council to look at extending free entry to include every Thursday from July next year for seniors and concession card holders.
