Spectacular celebration

DESPITE the difficulties and challenges of the past two years, Haldon Street in Lakemba will once again shine in the nights of the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan Nights Lakemba, one of Sydney’s most popular and culturally diverse events, will be returning after a two-year absence, with the spectacular month-long event set to be bigger and better than ever.
Councillor Karl Saleh, chair of the Lakemba Ramadan Nights organising committee, welcomed the return of the celebration after two years of absence due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
“We are working closely with police, transport, SES services and NSW Health as well as local organisations and representatives to ensure it’s a safe event,” he said.
Manager of Lakemba travel Centre, Omar Yassin, said: “This event is important for our town centre, providing a big support for the shopkeepers after two years of challenges.”
The holy month of Ramadan for 2022, is starting on the evening of Friday, April 1, lasting 30 days and ending at sundown on Sunday, May 2.
