Sowing seeds of future on Tree Day

MORE than 130 volunteers got their hands dirty at Pat O’Connor Reserve, Canterbury, at the council’s National Tree Day (July 28) planting event. The group planted 1,600 shrubs, grasses and ground covers to create an understory habitat for the 1,500 native trees and tall shrubs that were planted earlier this year. “National Tree Day is not just about planting trees, it’s about fostering a deeper connection between people and the environment,” Planet Ark CEO Rebecca Gilling said.
