An evening of unexpected tales of pride, prejudice, resilience and resistance, delivered with warmth and humour by incredible storytellers, ‘Queerstories’ is always a ‘must attend’ night for David who is excited to be invited for the first time to take part and be published in the annual anthology.
Called ‘Tracing My Place’, his story delves into his upbringing in Panania, Revesby and along Canterbury Road.
“I became obsessed with the Gregory’s street directory at three or four while waiting for mum to finish her shopping at Franklins in Revesby and that’s where it all started,” he says with a laugh.
“It lead to a fascination with maps and journeys; the audience will definitely be in for a laugh, especially when they get to understand what a ’special’ child I was.”
Queerstories host Maeve Marsden said: “I’m thrilled to bring Queerstories to Riverside Theatres, Parramatta, for the fourth year running. After a year where it was largely impossible for community to come together, queer gatherings right now feel like such a luxury, and the storytellers booked for the event are working on such a beautiful mix of funny, heartwarming, weird and wonderful stories. I can’t wait!”
Tickets: Adults, $30; concession, $26; 30 & under, $24; 18 & Under, $21, via riversideparramatta.com.au or call 8839 3399.
Something funny, queer going on but will inspire
