Snap up photo of our local spirit for chance to win

WITH many writers now busy penning their short story, essay, or poem, and photographers looking to capture that perfect image, time is running out to submit your entry for the Cumberland Photography and Creative Writing Competition.

With a prize pool of more than $1,000, the competition offers several categories and is open to anyone who lives or studies in Cumberland.
The theme of the competition is ‘Locally Led’, which is about “amplifying local ownership”.
A council spokesperson says Cumberland City is the epicentre of modern multicultural Australia led by a proud community that call Cumberland home, and the competition is an opportunity for people to share what they think this means for our City.
The winning submissions will be published on the council’s social media and other council publications, as well as exhibited in libraries.
There are three categories for the writing competition including primary school students aged five to 12 years, secondary school students aged 12 to 18 years, and adults aged 18 years, with the first three each winning a $200 Eftpos voucher, $100 for second and $50 for third. The photography competition is open all ages, but under-18s need parent consent.
The competition closes Monday, August 20. For info or to submit an entry visit cumberland.nsw.gov.au
