Smaller Little Athletics group’s celebrating season of success

CELEBRATING a season of success, Tiger Wests Little Athletics Club had five little athletes make it to the 2023 LANSW Youth State Championship in eight events, 11 make the Regional 8 Athletics Carnival in 22 events and 23 compete in 77 events in the Zone championship.

The Wyatt Park, Auburn, club president Peter Harper said they had loads of fun and the new athletes got used to what the next level of competition required.
“We will be back at the track on Fridays, August 18 and 25, for inquiries and uniform purchases, with the season getting underway from 6.30pm on Friday, September 1,” he said.
“Training is available from 6pm on the night every second week except in the school holidays.”
A fun, social and active program for girls and boys from the Tiger Cubs (four and five-year-olds), right through to 17-year-olds, Tiger Wests prides itself on providing an excellent facility for all levels and abilities.
“Athletes wanting to compete at zone, regional, State and at national level, are supported and encouraged to be their best,” Harper said.
“From our centrally located home ground in Auburn, we draw families from surrounding suburbs including Lidcombe, Newington, Sydney Olympic Park, Silverwater, Auburn, Berala, Regents Park, Flemington and Homebush.”
He said that with Tiger Wests one of the smaller clubs around, it’s easier for trainers to spend more time teaching skills to the young on a one-to-one basis which allowed them to compete in more events on a weekly basis.
“The results speak for themselves – all the effort pays off with competitive athletes, strong relationships and fun on Friday nights,” he said.
