Slam decision to close local ‘Return and Earn’

USERS of the Revesby Return and Earn in Marco Avenue have given the decision to close the facility the thumbs down.

It will close on Sunday, while operator Tomra Cleanaway investigates a potential replacement return point.
The site had come under some criticism with complaints about the accumulation of rubbish, bottles and the general poor upkeep of the site but a Return and Earn spokesperson said they worked closely with Woolworths to ensure site maintenance and amenity.
The spokesperson said Canterbury Bankstown Council residents were enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 522.9 million drink containers through local return points since the scheme began in 2017.
Anyone wanting to return eligible drink containers can do so at Return and Earn Centres at 4 Enterprise Ave in Padstow, 39 Ashford Avenue in Milperra, and 15 Faraday Road in Padstow.
Two out of every three eligible drink container supplied in NSW are now redeemed, increasing recycling rates and reducing the beverage industry’s reliance on virgin plastic, glass and aluminium.
The Aventus Bankstown Return and Earn machine should also be back in operation this week after it was temporarily closed when a car crashed into the facility.
