Sir Joey U15 boys win Bulldogs City Cup

DESCRIBED as a wonderful achievement, Sir Joseph Banks High School’s under 15 boys rugby league team has won the Bulldogs City Cup in a Gala Day Knockout after leaving all opposing teams scoreless.

Teacher Khalil Kouayder said the boys, still on a high after their successful Buckley Shield semi final achievement in 2022, couldn’t wait to get a taste of competitive school football again.
“They came up against Chester Hill High School in the first round and dominated from the get go,” he said.
“They stuck to their structure and executed some plays worked on during their training.
“They proved too strong and won the game 24 nil.”
In the second round, Picnic Point High School came into the game with confidence after a dominant victory in their round 1 clash but Sir Joseph Banks boys held their nerve to win the same stunning way as in the first game, 24 nil.
“They were then sent to the Grand Final against the formidable Bass High who were also undefeated,” Mr Kouayder said.
“It was an arm wrestle with both forward packs trying to stamp their authority but once our boys got over the line, they flipped the switch and scored some scintillating tries. They had the momentum and were hard to stop for the remainder of the game, securing a 25 nil victory.”
Mr Kouayder says the coaching staff and school community are proud of their efforts as well as the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the day.
“We wish them the best of luck next in the Western Sydney City Cup at St Mary’s at the end of term,” he said.
