Singles invited to enjoy ‘Friends over Fifty’ club

FREE concerts, wining and dining at multicultural restaurants to get a taste of the world, sailing, bay walks, old time dancing, Christmas in July cruises, Back to the Tivoli, historic tours and a walk down memory lane with ‘Frankie Valli’ are some of the highlights for members of the ‘Friends over Fifty’ club.

Long term member, Revesby’s John Bestel said there were about 60 members in the group – men and women of all backgrounds – who got together every weekend and sometimes during the week to catch up and enjoy friendships as well as new experiences.
He says it adds spice to life and means you’ve always got something great to look forward to.
“We meet at the venue, with the program organised about three months in advance and pay for our own meals but we’re also able to organise a lot of discounted activities,” he said.
To join the group, you must be aged over 50 and single; it costs $40 a year for the joining fee and $2 a function a person which covers the printing and mailing of the program every quarter and also subsidises the meal at the annual general meeting each year.
“I can’t recommend the group enough,” John said.
“We’re always on the lookout for new members so please don’t hesitate to get in touch to find out more.
“The bad news is, time flies … the good new is, you’re the pilot so enjoy.”
