Sing-a-long to boost spirit

OLDER residents at Lakemba and Roselands, will receive some extra Christmas cheer with sing-a-long with legendary entertainers Johnny Young, Normie Rowe and Kamahl this Thursday.

Aged care provider RFBI has partnered with Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) and Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) to bring to older people right across Australia – including residents at the RFBI Roselands Masonic Retirement Village and RFBI Lakemba Masonic Village – a special two-hour Christmas Sing A Long Show to be live-streamed from 1-3pm.
RFBI CEO Frank Price said since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, many Australians, especially older people, had experienced degrees of isolation and loneliness and as Christmas approached, these feelings were likely to be amplified.
“This year more than ever, we all need some extra Christmas cheer,” he said.
“The idea is to help restore older people’s lives and feelings in a positive way, with support and inspiration through this special event.
“The wonderful thing is that everyone can join legendary entertainers in the broadcast.”
As well as a fantastic line up of celebrity artists, RFBI’s own Marjory Wood, will also be performing.
Marjory is a Registered Nurse, however is also an experienced performer and very talented singer who knows firsthand how hard this year has been for aged care residents and the positive impact this sing a long show will have.
“This has been an incredibly hard 12 months for our residents.” Ms Wood said.
“Music and singing is a great way to connect people and it has such a powerful and positive effect on our residents.
“I sing to them as much as I can and they love it.”
