Face-to-face customer service has also been suspended although residents can contact the council on 8757 9000 or by email to council@cumberland.nsw.gov.au, and essential services like waste collection and Meals on Wheels are continuing.
A new ‘Shop Local’ website also shows which of their favourite local takeaway shops and essential businesses are still open and Mayor Steve Christou called on business owners to sign up.
“We want local residents to support you and we’ve created a dedicated page on our website so residents can see at a glance who is trading and connect with your services,” he said.
“I want small business owners to know they are not on their own and the council will do everything in its power to help them come through the other side of this.”
Cr Christou says more measures to support small business will be proposed at the next council meeting on Wednesday, April 1.
The free Shop Local initiative will run for the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the webpage will be updated regularly at cumberland.nsw.gov.au/shop-local.

The council is also supporting small businesses through scheduled business workshops and the one-on-one Business Advisory Services which are continuing through webinars and video/phone appointments. Details: cumberland.nsw.gov.au/business.
Business owners can also access eLearning modules on ‘Promoting Infection Prevention and Control’ developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. A certificate of completion can be obtained once all modules are completed. Details: safetyandquality.gov.au.
