Cumberland Police found a number of spent firearm casings on the roadway after they were called to Woodstock Street at 1am following reports shots were fired at a home.
Cumberland Commander, Detective Superintendent Darryl Jobson, said a male occupant in the house was uninjured and also confirmed that the property was one of eight searched under warrant by officers from Strike Force Raptor on Tuesday when a Mercedes and a jet ski, both believed to have been stolen, were seized.
He said his detectives were working with the State Command to identify the “offenders and put them before the courts” and were “vigorously investigating this matter”.
“I also want to reassure members of the community that this is not a random attack, that this is strongly believed to be a targeted attack,” he said.
“A black hatch motor vehicle was seen to leave the area about the time of the shooting and that’s a vehicle of interest to us.”
Shots were also fired into a home in the same street in July last year, with a 17-year-girl suffering a minor cut from broken glass, although the other two adults and five children also at home at the time were uninjured.
It is believed that Friday’s shooting is the latest in a series of tit-for-tat attacks allegedly linked to a deadly feud between the Hamzy and Alameddine families.
Det Supt Jobson appealed to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the vicinity or who has any knowledge of the shooting, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the local police station on 9897 4199.
Shot up home not random attack
A GUILDFORD home peppered with gunfire in the early hours of Friday morning, was searched by police just three days earlier.
