Hunt after car fire, shooting

POLICE combed through three crime scenes across South Granville after a shooting and car fire last Thursday night.

About 10.30pm, police were called to Bennett Road at South Granville, following reports of shots fired, however after an extensive search they couldn’t find any damage, projectiles or injured persons.
While on scene they were alerted to a vehicle fire at Ostend Street, South Granville, where a BMW X5 – stolen from a property at Elanora Heights in June 2021, was extensively damaged. Three men aged 20, 23 and 25, were arrested near the scene but were released pending further inquiries.
A short time later, police located a Toyota Hilux utility with a bullet hole in its front bumper, near the intersection of Wells and Clyde Streets, South Granville.
Investigators returned to the area last Friday and conducted further extensive canvassing in the area, including a review of CCTV vision.
Initial inquiries suggest the reports may be linked.
Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam vision from the area to come forward immediately.
