This shipment will be the club’s 15th container sent to Uganda. Originally the club intended to fill one container however due to the generosity of the individuals, clubs, associations, schools and businesses, many who have donated on multiple occasions, it has already started collecting for the 16th container.
A conservative estimate of the replacement value of the contents of this container is in excess of $400,000 and the donations of clothing by CNSW and gear by Harry Solomons of Kingsgrove Sports, have been significant. A wonderful supporter of all things cricket, Harry was a major contributor to the initial container and is still assisting 15 years later.
The cost of freighting containers to landlocked Uganda which has always been expensive, has more than doubled in recent times but the Bankstown Sports Club have never wavered in their support of this project by covering the freight of every shipment.
