GEORGES River Grammar held an Anzac Day commemoration (pictured) with a difference earlier this month.

The primary and high schools were both involved with the service organised by students Lara Kassably and Holly Saunders with help from teacher Belinda Brown.
“As part of the set complex task for our Leadership Portfolio, we prepared a script that was read by both Captains and Vice-Captains from both schools,” Lara and Holly said.
“We put a notice out to all the students to recruit volunteer cadets to participate in the raising and lowering of the flag and organised 550 pieces of rosemary to hand out for the children and teachers to wear during the service.”

Guest speaker Armen Nalbandian, who is a Flight Lieutenant from the Royal Australian Air Force and an Air Force Chaplain, spoke to the school about the importance of Anzac Day and that it should be celebrated for both the people who served in the past and for the people serving today.
“His speech was very inspiring and even made the primary children laugh at the humour included,” the students added.
