SES Volunteer Info night opportunity to benefit all

AMBER Hawkins decided to join the State Emergency Service in 2018 after seeing how a spate of devastating fires impacted friends who were not able to get back to their families who had the fire at their doorsteps.

She said she made the choice then to immediately join the SES as she wanted to help and protect her community when they needed it the most.
“While I didn’t necessarily want to be a firefighter, I felt that joining the SES would provide the best avenue for myself to assist them,” she said.
“Since then, I have moved to Lidcombe and joined the Auburn SES Unit – which I absolutely enjoy.
“What I love most about being a volunteer are the ways in which I get to assist people; when there is a natural disaster or if we are assisting with a missing person search, I really empathise with the community and think how worried I would be for my own family and friends in the same situation.”
Now with the SES for six years, Amber said the Auburn SES unit was a wonderful team who all worked together to get the job done.
Auburn SES is holding its Annual Volunteer Information Session on Wednesday, August 28, 6-9pm, at 19-31 Killeen Street, Auburn.
“I encourage all ages to come along to our information night and give it a go,” Amber said.
“Meet some of the leadership team and other members while you watch the demonstrations unfold in real life.
“The night will fully immerse you into the service and the opportunities on offer for your development.”
