Senior friendly rides to get you on move again

THERE are more bikes than cars in Sydney but most of them sit in the shed unused, however, the arrival of Spring is the perfect opportunity to dust them off and give recreational cycling a go.

A low impact on your joints, recreational cycling will improve your general fitness more than you think, according to Bike South West president Warren Artlett.
“Bike South West, which is run by volunteers, has designed a number of seniors’ friendly rides that mainly use off-road cycle paths,” he said.
“We want to show people new to cycling how to get around in a fun way.”
Why not join them on a recreational ride to discover local cycling routes and meet other local cyclists?
All rides are free and you don’t have to be a member of the group.
There are a number of rides coming up: On September 10, they’re riding from Wolli Creek to the city on off road cycle paths and quiet back streets including some of the new segregated cycle lanes; September 16, they’re riding from Padstow to Bexley North via the cycle path that runs through the M5 Linear Park to Bexley North; and on September 23, they’re doing an easy ride along the Cooks River cycle path to Pure Gelato Factory at Croydon Park including a coffee and a gelato stop.
