Seconds stride to grand final

BANKSTOWN Sports Women’s second grade is through to Sunday’s Grand Final after defeating the Minor Premiers Sydney Cricket Club in last weekend’s semi final.

After a delayed start, Bankstown Sports first grade were sent into bat on a very wet outfield.  With runs hard to come by, Mridula Thirupathy 15, Chrissa Stathis 12 and Emma Newman were able to keep the score ticking along before Bankstown were bowled out in the 39th over for 89.
In reply, Bankstown couldn’t have got off to a better start with Kaitlyn Drinkwater taking a wicket off the first over.
They fought until the 44th over when Sydney passed the score with Sarah Aley, Samantha Devlin and Alice Whelan the wicket-takers.
Bankstown Sports U18 Brewer Shield girls Chrissa Stathis 2/8 and Madison Rutherford 4/1 bowled second grade through to the Grand Final, with both on hat tricks in their first overs. Sydney ended up 39 runs short with Bankstown bowling them out for just 50 in the 25th over.
