Second grade frightens off ghosts to grab game

BANKSTOWN Sports Women’s Cricket Club’s (BSWCC) First Grade side’s consecutive wins have come to an end after losing to Parramatta.

Electing to bat, Tahlia Dunne scored 53 off 106 and was well supported by Emily Lawler 56 off 90 before Chrissa Stathis (29 off 56) helped guide Bankstown to 8/178.
In reply, Alice Whelan got the best of an opener before Parra found some rhythm. However our bowlers pulled it back to nearly win, with Maddy Spence, Alice Whelan and Karina Bell all picking up two wickets.
Meanwhile Second Grade had a 208-run victory over Campbelltown-Camden ghosts in Sunday’s Round 10 50 over match.
Openers Emilia Danne and Maeve Martin scored 91 runs before the loss of the first wicket, with the team finishing with 6/249 off their 50 overs.
In reply, Ava Blackburn and Sunshine Ferreiro-De Luca ripped through the top six batters, bowling them out for 41 runs.
Third Grade faced a challenge on Saturday against St George-Sutherland.
Beginning at 9am to avoid the heat, Bankstown scored 5 for 66 off 20 overs but St George reached 6 for 136 off 20 overs. Best bowler Steph Kelly took 3 for 18 off her four overs.
BSWCC Brewers lost their game against Parra.
Jess Robertson (45 runs/67) and Bareen Haider (31 runs/23) lifted them to 134 in the 34th over.
Opening bowler Rayani Jayawardana (1/10 off 3) dismissed the Parra opener. Bareen Haider (0/11 off 5) also bowled well but Parra got there in the 32nd over.
