This was the 14-year-old’s first international foray and first competition of the season, with coach Kylie Fennell praising her Trisha’s efforts for achieving third place in the Junior Ladies Division.
“We were both thrilled with her third placing,” Fennell said .
“This year’s focus has been working on maturing her mental approach and developing some new skills to compete with.
“Going forward she is hoping to represent Australia in a Junior Grand Prix Event later this year.”
In other results, SGSC skaters competed recently at the Central Coast Championships at Erina Ice Arena with Canterbury’s Maddison Qin coming first in Basic Novice Girls, Franco Wong came second in Preliminary Boys, Wanlin Zhang came second in Adult Silver Women, Ashleigh Evans came first in Adult Gold Masters and Sarah Cullen came first in Adult Elite Masters Women.
Scores bronze in first international figure skate event
BUDDING talent from Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink and the Sydney Figure Skating Club (SFSC), Trisha Tong has won a bronze medal at the International Oceania Figure Skating competition in Auckland, New Zealand.
